Nicolle Ndiweni, our Police and Crime Commissioner, has launched a consultation on the Police and Crime Plan for Derbyshire. This is a crucial initiative aimed at addressing the challenges we face and ensuring that Derbyshire becomes a safer place for everyone.

Why Your Input Matters

Nicolle Ndiweni recognises that for the Police and Crime Plan to be effective, it must genuinely reflect the needs and concerns of all communities across Derbyshire. This is where your input is invaluable. By participating in the consultation, your responses will directly influence the strategies and priorities of the Plan.

How You Can Help

  1. Complete the Survey: Take a few moments to share your thoughts and perspectives by filling out the survey. Your feedback will play a critical role in shaping the future of our community’s safety. You can access the survey through the following link: Take the Survey

  2. Spread the Word: Encourage others to participate by sharing the survey with Parish Councillors, residents, family, friends, community groups, workplaces, and any other networks you are part of. It’s important that no voice or community is left unheard.

Deadline for Responses

Please note that the consultation will run until the 1st of September. Make sure to share your insights and encourage others to do the same before the deadline.

National Highways has announced a critical maintenance project for the A38/A50 Toyota Island bridge, aimed at preserving its structural integrity and extending its lifespan. The project is set to commence on 1st July 2024 and is expected to be completed by 30th November 2024.

The maintenance work involves repainting sections of the bridge to prevent rusting and carry out additional necessary maintenance. Scaffolding will be installed to facilitate these activities, ensuring the bridge remains in optimal condition and reducing future maintenance needs.

The project will be executed in phases to minimise disruption:

  • 1st July to 13th September: Closure of the A38 northbound lane 2, 24/7.

  • 14th September to 29th November: Closure of the A38 southbound lane 2, 24/7.

  • 1st July to 12th September: Weekday overnight closures of the A38 northbound between the exit and entry slip at Toyota Island, from 8 PM to 5 AM.

  • 16th September to 29th November: Weekday overnight closures of the A38 southbound between the exit and entry slip at Toyota Island, from 8 PM to 5 AM.

During the closures, a small diversion will be in place over Toyota Island using the exit and entry slips. Additionally, a 50 mph speed restriction will be enforced throughout the duration of the works.

Travel Advisory

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys ahead and allow extra time to accommodate these disruptions.
